With the aim to get a better insight into wall-turbulence interaction, an original configuration has been designed where a random forcing replaces the turbulence production by the mean flow. The synthesized turbulence therefore self-diffuses from a central layer, towards a solid wall or a free-slip surface. This situation allows one to perform a refined analysis of the blocking effect at the surface, and the calibration of the intercomponent energy transfer occurring in this region. The database includes six test cases at three different Taylor microscale Reynolds numbers ranging from 190 to 500 and the two aforementioned boundary conditions. The highest Reynolds number corresponds to a computational domain involving 10242 x 896 grid-points. These results are well suited to the assessment of Reynolds-stress transport models, and in particular the closure scheme for the slow part of the pressure-strain correlation. In the vicinity of the wall, existing models for the dissipation tensor εij might also be tested against the database.
