Abstract
A combined numerical and experimental study of mixed laminar convection between horizontal parallel plates is reported. Numerical results by the finite difference method are presented for Rayleigh numbers between 2000 and 12000, Reynolds numbers between 1 and 9 and a Prandtl number of 0.7. Results of this numerical study show a movement with transversal rolls moving in the flow direction. Experimental results obtained with air show transversal rolls for low Reynolds numbers and longitudinal vortices for higher Reynolds numbers.
