Abstract

Since the use of statistical reconstruction and now the common use of reconstructed media from tomographic images, many numerical calculations are made on rather complex pore-scale structures. Questions are raised, however, on the quality of the numerical results (convergence, flux calculations, ...), on one hand, and, on the other hand, on the physical significance of the results. The purpose of the paper is to discuss the consistency model ↔ physics. Questions such as: (i) limits of the voxel representation, (ii) limits of Gibbsian models, (iii) impact of sub-pore scale heterogeneity, (iv) high Re, Bo, Ca flows, etc..., will be discussed.
