Abstract

This paper describes recent progress in modelling of crushing of carbon fiber reinforced plastic CFRP) plates at low velocity. Simulation is based mostly on elementary material mechanical characteristics, thanks to a mesoscale approach. Splaying of plies is well represented thanks to cohesive elements that rule the delamination. Fragmentation of plies is also represented, and globally, the correlation between experiments and numerical computation is good.
